Turn ye from sin

Are you awake now or still in a deep slumber?

Can you not see the danger you are in? Perhaps you are as a deer caught in the headlight beam of an oncoming vehicle at night, knowing death is rushing upon you and yet are unable to move? Has the years of indifference and apathy dulled your hearing? Could it be that in the carefree days of thy youth the sweet voice of Lord was ever present, and yet now has grown silent? Has the Lord forgotten thee? Is He no longer able to find thee? How can this be? Heaven forbid! Moses wrote, “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8). Admit it. YOU left the Lord, willingly of your own free choice. As the years past by it became easier to forget Him. After all, how can God compete with the pleasures and comforts of this world? I know. I’ve been there too. Now I am going to let you in on a secret I guarantee is not on ABC, CBC, CNN, or whatever fake news you has deceived you!

I am the LORD
“I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.” (Isaiah 43:11)

Do not love this world
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abide the for ever.” ( John 2:15-17)

The world will pass away
”And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abide the for ever.” (1 John 2:17)

I beseech thee not to be fooled. Our physical world is cursed with the black stain of sin, soon to pass away in judgment, fire and brimstone. Everything we humans foolishly value in the world; homes, property, cars, jewels, and so forth, will soon perish and be no more. Haven’t you had enough of “going it alone”, trying to simply “get by” without God in your life? Honestly, how is it working out for you? Even those of us who are “happy” by worldly standard, are, in the eyes of God, makes, wretched and destitute. Alas, without God’s Spirit, we are blinded to the hopelessness of our existence. Do you truly believe buying the latest and greatest ___________ (insert whatever you wish), will bring lasting happiness and contentment? Are you trying to convince yourself or me. Happiness, I mean, true and real contentment which can never fade away, will not ever be found in the ways or things of this world.

Real treasures
”Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt; and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 7:19-21)

Those who are wise in the eyes of the Lord will place no value upon the things of this world, expectantly looking for the imminent return of the Saviour. “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18) – “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it please God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21)

How is it you do not yet understand? Is not the plain meaning of Scripture clear and easy to comprehend? Hear me ye unrepentant sinner and make thy choice, for the end of your life is near and the gates of hell creak open to welcome thee! Will ye humble thyself before the Lord, crying out to Him with a broken heart and contrite spirit? How precious is the repentant and broken sinner in the eyes of the Lord! Alternately, has thy prideful heart formed a wall of self-righteousness and justification, making it impossible to hear His gentle voice calling unto thee? Yes, you may be a wiseman of the world, sought after by family and friends alike for thy advice. A snare has thou stepped into, and the pit lies open before thee in anticipation of a great feast. Thou fool! Think ye in your heart thou art a good person? A wretched sinner art thou, through the gates of hell will thou enter at the appointed time. Be assured, God’s judgment and wrath will come upon thee suddenly at a time least expected.

All have sinned!
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Psalm 14:1-3)

Our schoolmaster.
“Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Where the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.” (Galatians 3:21-25)

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God: Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through for forbearance of God.” (Romans 3:23-25)

None did answer Me.
“Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delight etc in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon the; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.” (Isaiah 66:3-4)

Our rebellious nature.
”I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name. I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; A people that provoke them me to anger continually to my face.” (Isaiah 65:1-3)

I implore you to please listen to what needs to be said, because nothing less than your very soul is at stake. When everything is said and done, God has given everybody the free choice to follow Him or be consumed by sin. He will never force you to love Him, which of course is not love at all. Notice how broad and encompassing is the phrase, “For all have sinned..”; there is no loophole, no exceptions, no special circumstances, no “what if” clauses. It is absolute, complete, total, all-encompassing, bringing conviction of sin to every human soul throughout all time, in every nation, rich and poor alike, and without exception.

Every person has sinned against a holy and righteous God, and is deserving of external damnation. You will not escape. You cannot run. You cannot hide. You will not be spared. You are not a good person. You are not “good enough”. You are a wretched sinner destined for the flames of external hellfire. Your good works, acts of kindness, your self-righteousness, your arguments of “I am a good person”, or any such nonsense are not going to pardon you. How will you respond on the day of judgment when sentence is pronounced? How does mortal man defend themselves against a holy, perfect, righteous, and eternal God? Do not be deceived by the lies of the enemy, for you will not be spared.

…unless…you are protected and sealed by the blood of JESUS CHRIST! He is your ONLY path to salvation, your ONLY way to have your many sins forgiven, the ONLY way to have peace with your Creator, and the ONLY was to escape judgment and eternal hellfire.

No person is justified by the law.
”Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.” (Galatians 2:16-17)

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image.
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Honour thy father and mother.
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not bear false witness.
Thou shalt not covet.

These Ten Commandments were given by God to Moses, written on tables of stone, represent the foundational structure of our relationship to God and one another. Has God forgotten them or rendered His laws obsolete? Heaven forbid! No, the laws of God are eternal, immutable, indestructible, and unchangeable. Painful and difficult as it may be, will you answer these few questions honestly to yourself?

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

  • Do you watch sports, movies, or are engaged in any activity which takes you away from spending time with God?
  • Are you addicted to alcohol, pornography, drugs, etc.?
  • Are you literally or figuratively worshipping anything or another person, other than the Lord Jesus Christ?
  • Your family? Possessions? Career? Food? Praises of men? Wealth?
  • Etc.
  • Then you are guilty of breaking this commandment.

Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image.

  • Are you worshipping a physical or literal idol?
  • Is there anything in your life, no matter how small or insignificant, in which you place your hopes and trust?
  • A “graven image” or idol does not need to be a physical item, a mere thought in your mind is just as idolatrous.
  • Etc.
  • Then you are guilty of breaking this commandment.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.

  • Have you ever cursed God’s name?
  • Have you accused God of lying?
  • Have you told God you have no need to Him?
  • Have you told lies in the name of God?
  • Etc.
  • Then you are guilty of breaking this commandment.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

  • Have you committed literal adultery by engaging in extramarital sexual relations?
  • Have you engaged in any sexual activity outside of biblical marriage (one man – one woman)?
  • Have you watched or participated in pornography, even one time?
  • Have you had a single lustful thought about/towards another person other than your lawful (in the eyes of God) spouse?
  • Etc.
  • Then you are guilty of breaking this commandment.

Need I go on? In a sense its not your fault (yet it is), because if you are a human (you are, right?), then you have inherited the curse of sin going all the way back to the Garden of Eden. Literally, its “in your DNA”, so of course, you cannot help but sin. And yesterday, when Jesus was physically on the earth He did not sin even a single time. Now before you explain, “That’s not fair, Jesus is God!” Now that’s a very interesting argument. You rightly acknowledge Jesus is God, and at the same time attempt to use this as an excuse for your sins. You sinful fool! God will not be mocked, and will never accept such a pathetic excuse for your high crimes.

Sin is despised by God so much that He cannot, and will not tolerate it in His presence. God is the source of life. Sin is the source of death. God is perfect and holy. Sin is a black stain marring everything it touches. Sin is the barrier preventing us from having peace with God, for in its presence God will not draw nigh. If you wilfully continue in sin, in self-righteousness and justification; you will be cast out of God’s presence for eternity, without possibility of pardon or escape. In short, your soul is doomed for all time!

Ye shall give an account.
“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” (Matthew 12: 36-37)

Wide is the gate.
”Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)

Wheat – Tares.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 13:30)

Gnashing of teeth.
“So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 12:49-50)

Depart from Me!
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:21-23)

The Book of Life.
“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:11-15)

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them” (Galatians 3:10-12)

“But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearten unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.” (Deuteronomy 28:15)

Ye are condemned!
“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:18)

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abide the on him.” (John 3:36)

Fallen angels will be in hell.
”For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.” (2 Peter 2:4-5)

Punishment of sinners assured.
”The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.” (2 Peter 2:9)

But only IF you accept His FREE GIFT!

Peace with God.
”Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:1-2)

Redeemed from the curse.
”Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.” (Galatians 3:13)

Jesus Christ died for us!
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will die: peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have received the atonement.” (Romans 5:6-11)

Wages of sin.
”For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Do not deceive yourself!
”If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1:8-10)

End of the law.
”For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Romans 10:4)

Believe on His Name.
”And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love once another, as he gave us commandment.” (1 John 3:22-23)

“He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” (1 John 5:10-11)

Your Confession.
”That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture smith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” (Romans 10:9-11)

Well, I could go on quoting scripture after scripture declaring the condemnation abiding upon all persons not redeemed by the blood of Jesus. As the ancient nation of Israel was spared God’s judgments upon Egypt by the blood of the Passover lamb, so has Christ, our Passover, redeemed those who believe from the wrath to come. Jesus gave everything to save you from sin, even His body, tortured and broken upon the bloody cross. It was He, Jesus, who freely and willingly shed His precious blood to keep you from eternal hell fire. What more could He have done for you? Was his death insufficient to convince you of His love for you?
