Power of God’s Word

What a treasure we have in the Holy Bible!

Across sixty-six separate books spanning thousands of years a unified story unfolds, commencing with God’s divine act of creation and concluding with Jesus’ return to earth, and the end of sin and death. For the believer and follower of Jesus Christ, the end of the bible is really only just the beginning of an eternity. An eternity of peace, joy, contentment, and love. An eternity without decay, without sin, absent of all strife, pain, or disease. An eternity where death is unknown, and Satan, the age old tormentor of mankind, is nowhere to be found. And most precious of all . . . being always and forever in the presence of the Lamb of God, our Lord Jesus Christ!

The entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation contains everything God wanted us to know; absolutely nothing essential has been left out! For us Christians who are saved and know the love and mercy we have been freely given through the Lord Jesus, His Word is literally our life, our daily food, our hope, and our strength. A true follower of Jesus would willingly give up everything before parting with His Word. If I am being completely honest with you, I would count any one of my King James Bible as more valuable than all the riches of the world combined; they mean absolutely nothing to me. Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” (Matthew 24:35). The Word of God is living and active, illuminating the sinful condition of sinners, then pointing them towards to redeeming blood of Christ where grace, mercy, and salvation is found.

In its pages we understand God literally spoke all creation into existence. Whether heard audibly or read on the printed page, God’s word is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If God says something just one time, you may be certain it is absolutely true. When He repeats His words multiple times, we know it is doubly certain to be true. God’s word is never wrong, always correct, precise in every way, and can never be destroyed. I sincerely pray you will open a Bible today and feast on the wonderful banquet we have in God’s living words!

A very small portion of Scriptures declaring the power of His Word ~

All Scripture is profitable.
“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

We may have total confidence in the ability of God’s word to convict lost souls of sin and rebuke false teachings. Once convicted of sin, only the Scriptures have power to teach and instruct.

Faith comes by hearing.
”So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

GOD’s WORD endures forever.
”But the word of the Lord endure the forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” (1 Peter 1:25)

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)

GOD’s WORD is food for man.
”But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

“He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” (John 21:17)

GOD’s WORD lives in us.
“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:7)

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us; And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have petitions that we desired of him.” (1 John 5:14-15)

GOD’s WORD is powerful.
“For I determines not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and his crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:2-5)

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerning of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

GOD’s WORD brings eternal life.
“…the word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thin heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 5:8-9)
