S2: Ethan and Olivia – “But I don’t want to!”

“My room is fine mommy,” said Olivia. “No, it’s a mess sweetheart. Look, there are toys and clothes all over the floor. I can’t even walk over to your bed without stepping on something. Honey, I’m not asking you to do a lot, just put away your toys after you are finished playing with them. It would really help me out if you could do this for me,” explained Mrs. Johnson. “I don’t want to put my toys away”, said Olivia. Picking up her favourite pony she said, “See, I’m playing with Isabelle. I don’t want to put her away now.” Feeling the tension building inside her, Mrs. Johnson silently prayed, “LORD, grant me patience.” Not wanting to have an unprofitable argument just now, she simply replied, “Well, how about we leave this talk to later?” “Okay mommy.” “Actually, I could use some help in kitchen baking some cookies, would you mind giving me a hand?” “Yum, I love cookies. Will you let me lick off the extra chocolate chips?” “You’ve got a deal little one!”

Being someone who thoroughly enjoys baking and cooking, Mrs. Johnson’s only insistence, other than having a private bath in the master bedroom, was a roomy kitchen. In no time at all her island counter was littered with mixing bowls, unwashed baking sheets, dirty utensils, etc. “Now be a good mommy’s helper and clear a spot on the counter for the next batch of cookies,” asked Olivia’s mother. Staring at the mess of dishes on the counter, Olivia replied, “Umm, mommy, I don’t think we have enough room.” “Oh that’s not a problem, just move the old dishes into a pile in the centre, we’ll clean them up sometime later,” answered Mrs. Johnson. “Where mommy, there isn’t any room for it anywhere?” “So what do you think we should do about it?” gently probed her mother. After a moment of trying to work it out in her mind, Olivia hesitantly answered, “Clean up our dishes?” “I think that is a great idea sweetie. So how is this different than keeping your room clean?” asked her mother, gently. “It’s not?” answered Olivia. “You’re pretty smart little one,” said her mom, giving her daughter a kiss on the forehead.

Life Lesson

Each of us is frequently faced with the choice of either doing what we want for only ourselves, or choosing to do what is right to help someone else. Olivia didn’t see anything wrong with her room being messy, while her mother, being many years older and wiser, understood her daughter needed a nudge to do what was right.

S1: Ethan and Olivia – “You shall not steal”

“You shall not steal.” (Exodus 20:15, ESV).

Olivia and her older brother Ethan lived with their parents in Faith Town, Saskatchewan, Canada. It was on a Saturday morning in late April, when Ethan was having an early breakfast with their father in the kitchen. Actually, this was a practice Mr. Johnson had started with his son ever since he was a small boy. Many years earlier as a sales executive with his firm, his own father spent a lot of time travelling for work, which sometimes made things quite difficult for his mother and older sister. On the special weekends when his father was at home, he always made an extra effort to spend quality time together with him in the early morning before anybody else was up and about. This made him feel rather special, and the feelings of love and closeness made the times when his father was away, just a little bit easier to manage. Their routine always involved his dad cooking breakfast for the two of them, which they sometimes shared in the kitchen, or at others, in the family room watching cartoons on television. It was true his dad was not the most talented cook; but he tried really hard and did it all out of love for his son, which he would come to look back upon fondly in future years.

Mr. Johnson observed from his son’s demeanour he was preoccupied; something was clearly on his mind. Not wanting to pry, Mr. Johnson patiently waited; Ethan would confide in him when he was ready, of that he was certain. Still upstairs, Mrs. Johnson noticed her husband was already up and about, and remembering today was Saturday, headed off to the master suite bathroom for a relaxing bath. Knowing how much this time meant to her husband, she would not intrude on his private time with their son. Besides, she deserved to have some personal quiet time to herself; and what better way to spend the time than with a soothing, fragrant bath! The privacy door of their bathroom had a full-length mirror attached to the interior, bathroom-facing side. Undressing, Mrs. Johnson could not help but admire her swollen belly, a sure sign of the new life growing with her womb. Following the birth of their youngest child, Olivia, five years ago, the doctors told them it was unlikely she would be able to conceive again. The problem had something to do with a defect in the lining of her uterus, making it difficult for an embryo to implant itself. The Johnson’s were understandably devastated, both having envisioned raising a large family; this was not something they were prepared to hear. No, this could not be happening; the doctor must be mistaken. At the recommendation of some close friends, the Johnson’s decided to travel out of province to Alberta, to be a well-recommended specialist, who had helped other couples in similar situations successfully conceive a child.

With the appointment date set, the Johnson’s left the two children with their grandparents, who conveniently also lived in the same town. To say the least, they were utterly devastated when the prognosis was exactly the same: a damaged uterine wall, with a chance of conception in the next twelve months of less than 1%. For a young Christian couple with their whole lives ahead of them, being told they were unable to be “fruitful and multiply” was just too much. Over the next two years, they tried very hard to focus on their existing children, whom they cherished and loved endlessly. Fortunately, the Johnson’s had a solid support network at their church, a select group of whom had quietly devoted themselves to prayers of intercession on their behalf. Almost two years to the day from the initial diagnosis, Mrs. Johnson woke up with a different feeling in her belly; one she had felt before….but of course this was impossible, right? Not wanting to get up the hopes of her husband, she purchased a home pregnancy test kit and waited for the results. Although it could not have been longer than a couple of minutes, the waiting seemed to go on for hours. But then a single beep signalled it was time to check the results. Her longing desire of both wanting to know, and not, held her emotions in torment for a brief moment; and then she turned over the test strip…..2-3 weeks pregnant!! No, it couldn’t be. This was simply not possible! And yet, she also knew the test kits of today were virtually foolproof!

No, she could not go to her husband just yet, not without solid medical proof. When they first received the bad news of being unable to have additional children, yes, she was heartbroken, downtrodden, and terribly sad. However, for her husband, the news was utterly devastating; a whole segment of his world had just crashed and dissolved around him. He did his very best to bury the hurt deep down inside, locking it away where it couldn’t harm anybody else. A few days later she had her appointment with their family doctor. Yep, it was true, she was definitely, 100% no-mistake pregnant! Dr. Allison was in disbelief, she had never seen anything like this happen before, nor could she offer a medical explanation for this miracle. Mrs. Johnson thought to herself, “A miracle. Yes, it must be. Images of the prayer group at church, kneeling in earnest petition for God’s healing of her broken womb came into her mind – praise God for small miracles! Now, yes, now, she needed to tell her husband, the man whom she loved with her whole heart and soul; he was going to flip over the roof when she told him her good news! These were the thoughts which came flooding into her mind, her new baby proudly showing outwards to the world; a true gift from God, who had heard her sobbing prayers, crying out night after night for answers.

Back in their kitchen, Ethan had finally summoned the courage to speak with his father about something which had been weighing heavily upon his young heart. “Dad, I have to tell you something.” “Of course son, you can tell me anything that’s on your mind; it will be okay I promise.” “Remember a few days ago when I was hanging out with Jason?” “Yes, sure,” replied his father. “Well, his mother, I mean, Mrs. Cooke took us shopping at Wal-Mart because she did not want to leave us alone at home. Jason’s mother said she would buy each of us a small toy if we could behave ourselves in the store. On the way out through the checkout, I saw Jason slip a Kit Kat bar from the shelf into his pocket without telling his mother. I remember Mrs. Hudson in our Sunday school class telling us how the Bible says taking something without paying for it is sin. Dad, I know what he did was wrong. Do you think I should tell his mom? Wouldn’t he call me a tattletale, and not want to be my friend anymore?” “I see your problem son. You did the right thing telling me about this, I’m very proud to see you know the difference between right and wrong. Let me think about this for a few moments, maybe I can come up with something,” replied Ethan’s father. After several minutes had passed finally said, “How about you tell Jason I want to talk to him? Perhaps I can show him why what he did was wrong. You won’t need to feel guilty about not telling his mother, and having him get all mad at you.” “Thanks, Dad, you’re the best; I love you.” “I love you too, son. Come on, let’s go watch a little T.V., okay?”

Life Lesson
God’s commandment to not steal does not have any conditions attached; stealing an object from someone else, regardless of its monetary value is irrelevant. A child swiping a piece of candy is just as guilty in God’s eyes as the teenager who takes $100 from their dad’s wallet; both actions are wrong, and in His eyes, sinful. That’s the real problem, isn’t it? When Adam and Eve willingly chose to disobey God’s instructions in the Garden of Eden, sin was permitted entrance into our world, with everything and everyone touched by its insidious effects. Blessedly we can have forgiveness and a full pardon when we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, the One who loves us and paid the price for our sins. Let us never neglect to be thankful for His most gracious and precious gift – Himself!

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” (Ephesians 2:8, NLT).

Love is Kind

Our LORD is kind to us
“And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the Lord, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him. And now the Lord shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.” 2 Samuel 2:5-6

“Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.” Proverbs 31:21

“O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord.” Proverbs 117:1-2

“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.  The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.” Proverbs 19:21-22

The wise person does not hesitate to speak kindness to others
“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” Proverbs 31:25-26

Scripture contains many references about God’s kindness towards us; our very existence depends upon it! Each one of us has sinned against a holy God; we truly deserve judgment, not His kindness! Nothing we have done in the past, nor will do in the future, can earn us God’s kindness; it is His free gift to us! We are utterly undeserving of God’s kindess; and yet, through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, and able to receive eternal life!! Therefore, how small a thing is it for us to show love and kindess to others, even when we believe they don’t deserve it?

Love is Patient

Christmas is a special time to celebrate the perfect love, God has for us: Jesus Christ came to bring the Gospel message; providing a way for us to be saved. This was truly a wonderful message! More than 2000 years later, the same message of repentance, and forgiveness remains unchanged. No matter what you have done in the past; regardless of the sins you have committed; you can be forgiven! God’s patience is very wide, desiring to save everyone who truly repents of their sins. Scripture tells us plainly we are to become more like Jesus in our daily lives.

May the grace of our Lord fill you with joy, peace, and love.

Learn the be slow to anger
“He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding:
but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” – Proverbs 14:29

“A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.” – Proverbs 15:18

Do not repay with evil
“See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:15

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” – James 1:19-20

God has infinite patience and love for us; should we not then learn to love our neighbour, and those who have wronged us? Be patient. Be Kind. Be understanding. Show compassion. Show love. Leave the rest to the God.

Merry Christmas, and God bless!

Government Is NOT in Control

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

These verses came to my mind, while listening this evening to the election coverage of our American friends to the south. As in Canada, the United States has, by and large, enmasse, willfully chosen to ignore our Creator God, to their peril. Our God will not be mocked; but make no mistake, He will have the final word on all things. Friend, will YOU, personally, respond to God’s calling? Is the time finally at hand for you to turn over everything to Him; it is all His anyway?

In the big picture, no government, social safety program, self-help program; nor anything the mind and will of man has created, will save you. Only the free, saving grace of Jesus Christ, is sufficient to rescue you from the festering evil all around. Over and over, God has promised in His Word to forgive the sin of anyone who repents, and turns fully to His saving grace and forgiveness. Whatever happens the evening, real hope is available; God is willing and able to bring hope, love, and forgiveness to your life, through Jesus Christ.

Where is Your War Room?

Last Sunday evening, my wife and myself saw the new movie, War Room, which I easily give a 10/10 for it’s adherence to solid biblical teaching and doctrine. Time and time again in scripture, we see the results of dedicated, persistent prayer. Friends, prayer is our best, and only effective weapon against this world, who is being overrun by the Prince of Darkness, Satan. As Bible-believing Christians, we need to be on our knees in fervent prayer each and every day, crying out to God for intercession and healing.

The real ENEMY
Are you angry with your spouse? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you jealous of your neighbour? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you impatient? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you selfish? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you struggling with an addiction? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you full of pride? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you apt to hurt others by speaking sharp words? The real enemy is Satan.

Turning worries into prayer – “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”  Philippians 4:6

Prayer brings answers – “I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. O lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.” Psalm 3:4-6

Jesus prayed to His Father – “One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.” Luke 6:12

Do not cease praying – “So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9

Pray for all people – “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by goodness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Pray for endurance – “We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need.” Colossians 1:11

Pray without ceasing – “See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:15-18

Pray early.
Pray always.
Pray for all things.
Pray with conviction.
Pray with confidence.
Pray with assurance.
Pray having faith.
Pray with your whole heart.
Pray, pray, pray. Pray with urgency – do it now!

*Scripture quotations from the New Living Translation.

The time for delay is over

I have a question for you. Are you a Christian? If the answer is yes, then are you living a full life for Jesus Christ as best you are able? When we come to Jesus in repentance and faith, Jesus says He wants all of us, not just part, but our entire being. The time for sitting on the sidelines is long past, what are you doing to share the Gospel in your community?

Jesus Christ Himself commands us to GO!!

Make disciples of all nations
“Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18-20, NLT

Go and preach
“As they were walking along, someone said to Jesus, I will follow you wherever you go. But Jesus replied, Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head. He said to another person, Come, follow me. The man agreed, but he said, Lord, first let me return home and bury my father. But Jesus told him, Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.”  Luke 9:57-20, NLT

Preach the good news
“So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.”  Acts 16:10, NLT

Preach Jesus is the Messiah
“And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: Jesus is the Messiah.”  Acts 5:42, NLT

The Holy Spirit speaks!
“For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. I came to you in weakness – timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.”  Acts 2:2-5, NLT

God does not expect you to “do it all” yourself, there are millions of Christians alive today who are called to spread the Gospel. However it is true how God gives each person certain spiritual gift(s) upon receiving the Holy Spirit, we are to use for His glory, to share the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ with others. See 1 Corinthians 12.

A sober warning
“Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.”  Galatians 1:8-9, NLT

Everyone going out to preach the Gospel Message, needs to know clearly in their heart and mind precisely what the Gospel is, and equally important, what is it not. Carefully read the warnings from Paul again, letting it sink down into your soul. If you intentionally preach a distorted Gospel, God says you will be cursed – take Paul’s admonition seriously!

The Gospel Message is NOT,

  • a promise of wealth and prosperity.
  • a guarantee of an easy, worry-free life.
  • dependent upon the opinions of sinful man.
  • negotiable, debatable, or changeable.
  • to make us feel good about ourselves.
  • for our glory.
  • to be altered to fit your personal opinion.
  • a works-based message of salvation.
  • an “all religions are equal” message.

  • change the Gospel message in any way!!!
  • think you are big and important.
  • shift the focus and glory away from Jesus.
  • water down, dilute, alter, massage, twist, or do anything to change the Message – There is only ONE GOSPEL!
  • back down or shy away from preaching the truth, pray diligently for strength and guidance.
  • say, infer, imply, or lead people to anything other than the cross, and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel Message IS,

  • permanent, eternal, and everlasting.
  • all about Jesus Christ.
  • good news for everyone who hears, believes, and obeys.
  • salvation through faith alone.
  • about the virgin birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • finding forgiveness, redemption, and a new life through Jesus.
  • perfect, absolute, unchanging, non-negotiable, everlasting, eternal, holy, wonderful, and free!
  • the message of salvation through Christ alone.
  • our free “ticket” to heaven.
  • the only way to avoid eternal damnation in hell.

Now go! Be the hands of feet of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Using the abilities, gifts, and talents, God has given you, go unto all the world and share the Good News! Pray for guidance. Pray for instruction. Pray for strength. Pray for protection. Pray for the words to speak. Pray for humility. Above all else, pray. May God bless you!

Original Sin

Contained within the pages of Genesis, is the true account of how our world became cursed by sin. It is here we are told Adam and Eve first sinned against Almighty God, and how the fate of all humanity was decided on that day, 6000 years ago. Although the story has a tragic beginning, the ending is simply amazing and wonderful!! God in His unending mercy, sent His Son, Jesus Christ to be sacrificed on the cross for our sin, so we may once again have true and everlasting fellowship with Father and Son.

In The Garden Of Eden

“Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Indeed, has God said, You shall not eat from any tree of the garden? The woman said to the serpent, From the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die. The serpent said to the woman, You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, Where are you? He said, I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.

And he said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? The man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate. Then the LORD God said to the woman, What is this you have done? And the woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate. The LORD God said to the serpent.

Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more then every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life;
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.

To the woman He said,
I will greatly multiply
Your pain in childbirth,
In pain you will bring forth children;
Yet your desire will be for your husband,
And he will rule over you.

Then to Adam He said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat from it;
Cursed is the ground because of you;
In toil you will eat of it
All the days of your life.
Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you;
And you will eat the plants of the field;
By the sweat of your face
You will eat bread,
Till you return to the ground,
Because from it you were taken;
For you are dust,
And to dust shall you return.

Now the man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all the living. The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. Then the LORD God said, Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever – therefore the LORD God sent him out from the Garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.”  Genesis 3:1-24, NASB
God’s original plan was for Adam, Eve, and their descendants to live forever together with Him in the Garden of Eden, in a perfect, pristine, sin-free world for eternity. God exists outside of time and space, and knew in advance they would disobey Him when He said, “Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. The LORD God commanded the man, saying, From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”  Genesis 2:15-17,  NASB.

Did you get that? God said they would die if they ate from the forbidden tree, clearly implying they would live for ever if they obeyed! Well, the “serpent”, who represents Satan the Devil, a fallen angel who rebelled against God, knew God’s plan and decided to get Adam and Eve to disobey, thereby denying them the blessings of fellowship and eternal life God had promised.

BIG IMPORTANT WARNING – The devil, while very smart and crafty, really has a limited bag of tricks to ensare mankind, and uses the same old lies to tempt each of us – BEWARE! By planting doubt in their minds that God had not really meant what He said (GOD SAYS EXACTLY WHAT HE MEANS!), both Adam and Eve (please don’t get me started on who sinned first, it is irrelevant), disobeyed God’s commandment not to eat fruit from the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil. It is at this precise moment in history when sin first entered into the world, caused by the disobedience of Adam and Eve against God. The consequences of their mistake continues to manifest itself today, such as,

Mental disorders
Broken families
Drug and alcohol addictions
And on it goes…

You may not realize there are environmental effects as well,

Extreme cold and heat
Weeds – thistles, thorns, etc..
Poor soils, lack of nutrients

Today, we have no concept of what a perfect sin-free world upheld by God’s power is like, as only Adam and Eve, before they sinned, experienced. Ever since that critical moment in time, the earth and it’s systems have been running down and decaying.  “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pain of childbirth together until now.”  Romans 8:18-22, NASB

All creation is decaying and suffering the effects of original sin. The root cause of every hurricane, earthquake, volcano, garden weed, and so forth, is caused by SIN.  Our world is NOT what God intended to create, and is being destroyed by the lasting and corrosive effects of sin. In actual fact, this earth, our world, is terminally ill and cannot be saved. During the soon-coming future judgment of mankind, our “beautiful world” will be utterly, completely, and absolutely destroyed by fire, and it is our fault. As in the days of Noah we have done wickedly in the eyes of God, and judgment upon us will not be restrained forever.

“They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They re being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed. But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God, and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.”  2 Peter 3,5-13, NLT  – (Emphasis added)

No amount of recycling efforts can truly clean up our world, it is beyond saving and ultimately temporal and worthless. While the Earth cannot be saved from judgment, YOU can be! You have one and only ONE choice, to repent of your sins and confess the name of Jesus Christ, asking for His forgiveness. Unless you willingly and freely do this with your whole heart, you will end up being tormented in hell for eternity.

The sin of one man allowed death through the door

“So you see, just as death came into the world through a man…”  1 Corinthians 15:21, NLT

“When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.”  Romans 5:12, NLT

“For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one;…”  Romans 5:17, KJV

Showing death the door

~ Sin came through Adam ~ Romans 5:18, NLT
“Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new lives for everyone.”

~ The reign of sin is over! ~ Romans 8:3, NLT
“God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.”

~ Sting of death is no more! ~ 1 Corinthians 15:53-57, NLT
“For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory. O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

~ Jesus takes away sin ~ John 1:29, KJV
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

~ Jesus bore our sins ~ 1 Peter 2:21-24, KJV
“For  even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.”

There you have it, the sad story of how sin gained entrance into our world, and what is in store for us. My hands are clean and my conscience is clear, I have told you the truth. What you do with this knowledge is up to you, please make the right choice; come to the feet of JESUS CHRIST today!! May God bless you.

Hold fast to Him

The currents of life are flowing so quickly you hardly have time to stop and catch your breath. Change is in the air, and most of it is not good. The very fabric of society is under relentless attack by demonic spiritual forces, which are trying the souls of men. What was once considered evil is now embraced, even worshipped. Absolute morality is considered a relic of the past, and has no anchor. If I am right, and you are right, and your neighbour is right, somebody then must be wrong, right…? After all, if 1+2=3, and 1+2=4, and 1+2=5, how can you be sure of anything?

Thankfully, our God is always right, a light of hope in the darkness, a comforting companion on a long journey. God has never changed, it is not in His nature, otherwise, all of creation would collapse. God has faithfully recorded His word for us in the Bible and is the only and true source of truth, morality, and strength. Don’t be overly alarmed by the happenings of this world, for all things old are passing away, and yea, are nearly gone. Hold fast to our Lord Jesus Christ, our true anchor, sustainer, and author of our salvation, foe He changes not.

God bless,

How to be saved and know it!

The world has itching ears

2 Timothy 4:1-4
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing, and his kingdom: Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

As Christians’, we are commanded to

  1. Preach the gospel without ceasing.
  2. Reprove false doctrine and teaching.
  3. Exhort, edify and build-up the brethren.

We are to be busy going about the Lords’ business – strengthening the church and preaching the gospel to the world. I for one, could be doing a lot more in these areas. How about you? The time has always been, and is now being fulfilled to the maximum, whereby the world (and often the church), refuse to listen to the sound doctrine of Jesus. Scientists tell us the physical universe was formed by random chance, and life arose on the planet because of evolution – both lies. Atheists demand obedience to their mantra, “God does not exist, religion is a fairytale”. Another lie,but one you get away from God, evil naturally seeps in to pollute the void. All atheists are liars according to God, and most scientists know nothing. As we approach the end of days, all manner of evil and uncleanness will increase in abundance. Rather than listen to the one true God, our world seeks after the “expert opinion”, not caring for what God has to say. How about you, will you listen to His word today? Are you going to continue believing the lies of the world, or embrace the glorious light and truth of Jesus Christ?

God bless,
