Love is Kind

Our LORD is kind to us
“And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the Lord, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him. And now the Lord shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.” 2 Samuel 2:5-6

“Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.” Proverbs 31:21

“O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord.” Proverbs 117:1-2

“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.  The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.” Proverbs 19:21-22

The wise person does not hesitate to speak kindness to others
“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” Proverbs 31:25-26

Scripture contains many references about God’s kindness towards us; our very existence depends upon it! Each one of us has sinned against a holy God; we truly deserve judgment, not His kindness! Nothing we have done in the past, nor will do in the future, can earn us God’s kindness; it is His free gift to us! We are utterly undeserving of God’s kindess; and yet, through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, and able to receive eternal life!! Therefore, how small a thing is it for us to show love and kindess to others, even when we believe they don’t deserve it?

Love is Patient

Christmas is a special time to celebrate the perfect love, God has for us: Jesus Christ came to bring the Gospel message; providing a way for us to be saved. This was truly a wonderful message! More than 2000 years later, the same message of repentance, and forgiveness remains unchanged. No matter what you have done in the past; regardless of the sins you have committed; you can be forgiven! God’s patience is very wide, desiring to save everyone who truly repents of their sins. Scripture tells us plainly we are to become more like Jesus in our daily lives.

May the grace of our Lord fill you with joy, peace, and love.

Learn the be slow to anger
“He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding:
but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” – Proverbs 14:29

“A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.” – Proverbs 15:18

Do not repay with evil
“See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:15

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” – James 1:19-20

God has infinite patience and love for us; should we not then learn to love our neighbour, and those who have wronged us? Be patient. Be Kind. Be understanding. Show compassion. Show love. Leave the rest to the God.

Merry Christmas, and God bless!

Against the Sinners Prayer

Sadly, many otherwise well-meaning Christians, Pastors, and Teachers have fallen for the lie of easy-believism, decisional evangelism, and so on. Essentially, their theology says all a sinner needs to do is invite Jesus into their heart and believe. Believe what, exactly? You must understand, a smattering of Gospel verses followed by a prayer will save no one, as I will attempt to illustrate below. This a misrepresentation of what THE TRUE GOSPEL is all about, and is a lie from hell. So, what dies this prayer look like?

Although there are many variations, the typical prayer goes something like this – “I confess to God that I am a sinner. I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for my sins in the cross and was raised back to life so that I could be made right with God. I now repent of my sins and receive and confess Him as my Saviour and Lord”.

Scriptural Evidence?
There is a total lack of scriptural evidence anyone prayed a “salvation prayer” to receive Jesus. This teaching is an invention of man and without Scriptural support. There is NO evidence in the New Testament of a prayer containing the words, “Saviour and Lord.” Specifically, where is the New Testament evidence for “inviting Jesus into my heart”?

The Unsaved cannot come to God
Since no man can confess Jesus as Lord unless he is called (drawn) by the Father, it is scripturally impossible to accept the phrase, “I confess to God that I am a sinner”,  without having heard the complete Gospel and repented first. Based upon the presented verses, does a lost person completely understand what sin is, and their need for a Saviour? We do not invite Jesus into our hearts, both He and the Father will come to us if, we love Him. An unconverted person cannot call the Father, “Father”! They are still lost in their sin and separated from God.

John 14: 21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”

John 14:23 “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

We cannot come to God on our own without first having “learned of the Father”. John 6:44-45 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up on the last day. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”

Romans 8:6-8 – “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”

Prayers of Sinners?
No scriptural evidence God hears (responds) to prayers of the unsaved. We must first be saved and worshipping God. John 9:31 – “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doth his will, him, he heareth.”

Repentance?
Barely a mention of repentance, which is repeated over and over in the New Testament – repent, repent, repent!

Baptism?
Why is this missing when scripture consistently upholds it? “Repent and be baptized for the remission of sins..” Mark 16:16  – “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

Abiding in Christ?
John 14:21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:23  – “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

John 15:5-6  – “I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.”  Scripture says we do not invite Jesus into our heart; He comes to us when we love Him. How can a sinner receive Jesus without first loving Him?

Does the lost person understand what “commit my life fully to you” means? Where is this thoroughly expounded upon? The sinners prayer makes no mention of continually abiding in Jesus, keeping His commandments, and living a holy life. What is the fate of those not abiding and enduring in Christ? Eternal damnation in hell.

Salvation is a work of God and not ourselves
There is nothing we can do to earn eternal life, it is completely a gift from God. John 1:10-14  – “He was in he world, and the world knew him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Hebrews 11:6 – “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

The NLT translates v12-13 as “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn – not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.” John is writing to make clear the spiritual birth of the converted is solely and singularly a work of God, and not of ourselves. Therefore, I must conclude the sinners prayer makes salvation a work of man, robbing Christ of His redemptive role saving sinners.

Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” We are saved by grace and not through a sinners prayer confession, the spiritually dead cannot make themselves undead. Ephesians 2:1 – “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins”.

A Sinners Prayer is NOT The Gospel
I agree, yes, this prayer includes certain elements of the Gospel, however it does not represent THE Gospel, nor adequately convey the message of salvation. The impression is we are saved by praying a prayer, which of course is untrue; salvation is by faith alone.

Regardless of form, the sinners prayer is NOT the Gospel, and will result in a false conversion. Based upon the verses presented, does a person reading only these two pages have a solid of understanding of the Gospel? I would have to say, no.

THE BIBLICAL METHOD OF SALVATION

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8-9

The true Gospel may be likened to a lock which may only be opened when using a specific key; any changes to which will render it useless and the lock remains closed. The Gospel is very specific and cannot, must NOT, ever, ever, be changed or altered in any way. A careful search of the Scriptures leads one to conclude the core essentials of the Gospel include.

Faith comes by hearing the Gospel, and hearing by the Word of God

Romans 10:8-17 – “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the Lord shall be saved.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Mark 1:15 – “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:6 – “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

James 1:17-20 – “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Repent and be Baptized

Luke 13:3 – “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

Acts 3:19 – “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

Acts 9:17-20 – “And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou lamest, hath sent me, that thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose and was baptized.” *Saul had earlier confessed Jesus as Lord on the road to Damascus. See Acts 9:3-9

Acts 2:36-38 – “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men, and brethren what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Matthew 27:19-20 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

Mark 16:15-16 – “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

Acts 8:29-38 – “The the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understands thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they cam unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believes with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water. both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”

Another key aspect of true conversion is a PUBLIC CONFESSION OF JESUS CHRIST. Continuing in Verse 39 – “And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.”

Matthew 10:32-33 – “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

Continually abide in Jesus Christ

Hebrews 5:5-10 – “So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.”

John 14:21 – “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”

Matthew 10:22 – “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.”

James 1:12 – “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

2 Timothy 4:6-8 – “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

*The following narrative is a summary of the presentation method taught during an evangelism course at our church, a few years ago. While certainly not the only presentation method of evangelism, it does provide a logical and thorough presentation of the Gospel, and a blueprint to lead a lost soul to Jesus. I have included it here for comparison against the “Sinners Prayer”, or “Decisional Evangelism” method.

GOD’S STANDARD OF PERFECTION
  ~ The Bad News ~
You must never ever have sinned, not even one time! God’s laws are essentially summarized in the “Ten Commandments”; Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not lie, and so on. The two most important characteristics about God we must understand in order to comprehend the gospel, are that God is both loving and just at the same time. In order for us to be saved by our own “goodness” and abilities, it is necessary for us never to have sinned. God’s perfect justice demands and requires sin to be punished.

Here is what the Bible really says:

James 2:10  – “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Romans 3:23  – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

Romans 6:23  – “For the wages of sin is death…”

Psalm 53:1-3 – “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”

Romans 5:12 – “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”

GOD IS LOVE!  ~The Good News!! ~
God loves each human being to the ultimate, maximum possible extent, so much so, the human mind is incapable of fully comprehending His love for us. Jeremiah 31:3 – “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting  love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee”.

Ephesians 2:4 – “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,…”1 John 4:8 – “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” The love God has for us is so intense and powerful, He is compelled to forgive us of our sins. However, we also know that God is perfectly just and must see our sin punished.

THE DILEMMA  ~ What is God to do? ~
God’s infinite and perfect love for us compels Him to forgive us of our sins, while His perfect justice demands that sin be punished. What is God to do? Please understand that God would like everyone to be saved, so in 2 Peter 3:9 we read “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Now there is no dilemma with God, but this will help us to understand why we need a Saviour to rescue us from sin.

Plan C: God will search the Earth for a single righteous man to take the punishment for sin for all mankind. Psalm 53:2-3 – “God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back:they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Isaiah 53:6 – “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way…” Romans 3:23 – “All have sinned, come short of the glory of God.” Plan C dies on the table since scripture makes it plain no human being is without sin.

Plan B: God will come to Earth Himself and accept the punishment for our sins. This plan also dies because God is spirit and we are flesh, therefore it is impossible for Him to take our punishment for us – He is of a different substance and form. Scripture is very clear about the Old Testament animal sacrifices being unable to take away sin. Again, animals are of a different type of flesh that humans. Hebrews 10:3-4  – “But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”

Plan A: This is THE PLAN God established from the foundation of the world as the only way to forgive mankind, while at the same time satisfy His judgement against sin. A miraculous conception, Luke 1:26-35 – “And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto here, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of Salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And  behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of this father David. And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered  and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

NO OTHER SAVIOUR THAN JESUS CHRIST
Hebrews 4:15 – “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

John 14:6 – “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Isaiah 53:5-6 – “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own was; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

1 Peter 2:24 – “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

A PROVISION

What we have just learned would appear to say that every person is automatically saved, however this is not exactly the case. Consider the following illustration. You and your family have planned a spectacular holiday at an exotic tropical resort. Finally, after months of planning and waiting the big day finally arrives. After checking in at the airport and clearing customs, the call for passengers to begin boarding is announced over the speaker system. Everyone heads down the final connecting ramp to the waiting aircraft and boards, but you hesitate to cross the threshold due to an intense fear of flying.

Certain you will be able to ease your fears and take that final step, you tell the family to find their seats and you will join them shortly. After a period of 20 minutes or so passes, the cabin crew closes the aircraft door leaving you shut out of your flight. By faith, your family members trusted the airplane manufacturer, the airline, flight crews, pilot and so forth, to safely deliver them to their destination. All you needed to do was take that step of faith and step onto the airplane, but you did not. Everything was prepared and ready for you, all parties had done their jobs correctly and you were ready to go. The final remaining but necessary step was to complete your part by getting on board, but failed to do so.

Just like this person who missed their flight because of their inaction to take the final step, anyone wishing to be saved from the fires of hell must consciously receive the promises of the Father through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross He paid the price for everyone’s sin, but to make it real you must make it personal. Let us look at another example to illustrate this vital point. You have contracted a lawyer to draw up your will to protect your loved ones when you die. Are the terms laid out in the will in force before you place your signature on the document? No. If you die before signing the will the terms and conditions are not enforceable and your family is left in a mess – your inaction has very real consequences.

A biblical example: Thief on the Cross, Luke 23:36-43 “And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today, shalt thou be with me in Paradise.”

Both thieves freely admitted they were sinners and deserving of death. At some point one of them was moved to acknowledge Jesus as Lord. Could this man have saved himself? No, he was utterly incapable of doing anything to change his situation. Notice very carefully how after making a simple profession of faith, Jesus responded by assuring him he would go to heaven – he would be saved!

FOUR CRITICAL STEPS

[1] – YOUR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF BEING A SINNER BEFORE GOD

*You are ruined and lost because of sin.

Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

Psalm 58:3 – “The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.”

Jeremiah 17:19 – “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

Isaiah 64:6 – “But we are all as unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”

[2] – YOUR CALL TO REPENTANCE

* The first step towards healing the wounds.

Acts 3:19 – “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

Luke 13:3 – “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

[3] – YOUR PROFESSION OF FAITH

*Receiving the promises of God by faith alone.

Romans 5:1 – “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Romans 10:9-10 – “That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Romans 10:13 – “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

[4] –
YOUR CONFESSION BEFORE MEN

 *Making your conversion real.

Matthew 10:32-33 – “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

John 1:11-13 – “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

As soon as practicable and without unnecessary delay, you should be baptized as a public profession of your faith, and new life in Christ Jesus. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 28:19 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

Blessings!

Where is Your War Room?

Last Sunday evening, my wife and myself saw the new movie, War Room, which I easily give a 10/10 for it’s adherence to solid biblical teaching and doctrine. Time and time again in scripture, we see the results of dedicated, persistent prayer. Friends, prayer is our best, and only effective weapon against this world, who is being overrun by the Prince of Darkness, Satan. As Bible-believing Christians, we need to be on our knees in fervent prayer each and every day, crying out to God for intercession and healing.

The real ENEMY
Are you angry with your spouse? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you jealous of your neighbour? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you impatient? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you selfish? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you struggling with an addiction? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you full of pride? The real enemy is Satan.
Are you apt to hurt others by speaking sharp words? The real enemy is Satan.

Turning worries into prayer – “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”  Philippians 4:6

Prayer brings answers – “I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. O lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.” Psalm 3:4-6

Jesus prayed to His Father – “One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.” Luke 6:12

Do not cease praying – “So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9

Pray for all people – “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by goodness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Pray for endurance – “We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need.” Colossians 1:11

Pray without ceasing – “See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:15-18

Pray early.
Pray always.
Pray for all things.
Pray with conviction.
Pray with confidence.
Pray with assurance.
Pray having faith.
Pray with your whole heart.
Pray, pray, pray. Pray with urgency – do it now!

Blessings,

*Scripture quotations from the New Living Translation.

The time for delay is over

I have a question for you. Are you a Christian? If the answer is yes, then are you living a full life for Jesus Christ as best you are able? When we come to Jesus in repentance and faith, Jesus says He wants all of us, not just part, but our entire being. The time for sitting on the sidelines is long past, what are you doing to share the Gospel in your community?

Jesus Christ Himself commands us to GO!!

Make disciples of all nations
“Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18-20, NLT

Go and preach
“As they were walking along, someone said to Jesus, I will follow you wherever you go. But Jesus replied, Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head. He said to another person, Come, follow me. The man agreed, but he said, Lord, first let me return home and bury my father. But Jesus told him, Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.”  Luke 9:57-20, NLT

Preach the good news
“So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.”  Acts 16:10, NLT

Preach Jesus is the Messiah
“And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: Jesus is the Messiah.”  Acts 5:42, NLT

The Holy Spirit speaks!
“For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. I came to you in weakness – timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.”  Acts 2:2-5, NLT

God does not expect you to “do it all” yourself, there are millions of Christians alive today who are called to spread the Gospel. However it is true how God gives each person certain spiritual gift(s) upon receiving the Holy Spirit, we are to use for His glory, to share the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ with others. See 1 Corinthians 12.

A sober warning
“Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.”  Galatians 1:8-9, NLT

Everyone going out to preach the Gospel Message, needs to know clearly in their heart and mind precisely what the Gospel is, and equally important, what is it not. Carefully read the warnings from Paul again, letting it sink down into your soul. If you intentionally preach a distorted Gospel, God says you will be cursed – take Paul’s admonition seriously!

The Gospel Message is NOT,

  • a promise of wealth and prosperity.
  • a guarantee of an easy, worry-free life.
  • dependent upon the opinions of sinful man.
  • negotiable, debatable, or changeable.
  • to make us feel good about ourselves.
  • for our glory.
  • to be altered to fit your personal opinion.
  • a works-based message of salvation.
  • an “all religions are equal” message.

Do NOT,

  • change the Gospel message in any way!!!
  • think you are big and important.
  • shift the focus and glory away from Jesus.
  • water down, dilute, alter, massage, twist, or do anything to change the Message – There is only ONE GOSPEL!
  • back down or shy away from preaching the truth, pray diligently for strength and guidance.
  • say, infer, imply, or lead people to anything other than the cross, and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel Message IS,

  • permanent, eternal, and everlasting.
  • all about Jesus Christ.
  • good news for everyone who hears, believes, and obeys.
  • salvation through faith alone.
  • about the virgin birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • finding forgiveness, redemption, and a new life through Jesus.
  • perfect, absolute, unchanging, non-negotiable, everlasting, eternal, holy, wonderful, and free!
  • the message of salvation through Christ alone.
  • our free “ticket” to heaven.
  • the only way to avoid eternal damnation in hell.

Now go! Be the hands of feet of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Using the abilities, gifts, and talents, God has given you, go unto all the world and share the Good News! Pray for guidance. Pray for instruction. Pray for strength. Pray for protection. Pray for the words to speak. Pray for humility. Above all else, pray. May God bless you!

Original Sin

Contained within the pages of Genesis, is the true account of how our world became cursed by sin. It is here we are told Adam and Eve first sinned against Almighty God, and how the fate of all humanity was decided on that day, 6000 years ago. Although the story has a tragic beginning, the ending is simply amazing and wonderful!! God in His unending mercy, sent His Son, Jesus Christ to be sacrificed on the cross for our sin, so we may once again have true and everlasting fellowship with Father and Son.

In The Garden Of Eden

“Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Indeed, has God said, You shall not eat from any tree of the garden? The woman said to the serpent, From the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die. The serpent said to the woman, You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, Where are you? He said, I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.

And he said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? The man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate. Then the LORD God said to the woman, What is this you have done? And the woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate. The LORD God said to the serpent.

Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more then every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life;
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.

To the woman He said,
I will greatly multiply
Your pain in childbirth,
In pain you will bring forth children;
Yet your desire will be for your husband,
And he will rule over you.

Then to Adam He said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat from it;
Cursed is the ground because of you;
In toil you will eat of it
All the days of your life.
Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you;
And you will eat the plants of the field;
By the sweat of your face
You will eat bread,
Till you return to the ground,
Because from it you were taken;
For you are dust,
And to dust shall you return.

Now the man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all the living. The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. Then the LORD God said, Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever – therefore the LORD God sent him out from the Garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.”  Genesis 3:1-24, NASB
God’s original plan was for Adam, Eve, and their descendants to live forever together with Him in the Garden of Eden, in a perfect, pristine, sin-free world for eternity. God exists outside of time and space, and knew in advance they would disobey Him when He said, “Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. The LORD God commanded the man, saying, From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”  Genesis 2:15-17,  NASB.

Did you get that? God said they would die if they ate from the forbidden tree, clearly implying they would live for ever if they obeyed! Well, the “serpent”, who represents Satan the Devil, a fallen angel who rebelled against God, knew God’s plan and decided to get Adam and Eve to disobey, thereby denying them the blessings of fellowship and eternal life God had promised.

BIG IMPORTANT WARNING – The devil, while very smart and crafty, really has a limited bag of tricks to ensare mankind, and uses the same old lies to tempt each of us – BEWARE! By planting doubt in their minds that God had not really meant what He said (GOD SAYS EXACTLY WHAT HE MEANS!), both Adam and Eve (please don’t get me started on who sinned first, it is irrelevant), disobeyed God’s commandment not to eat fruit from the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil. It is at this precise moment in history when sin first entered into the world, caused by the disobedience of Adam and Eve against God. The consequences of their mistake continues to manifest itself today, such as,

Death
Disease
Sickness
Mental disorders
Broken families
Drug and alcohol addictions
Abortion
Murder
And on it goes…

You may not realize there are environmental effects as well,

Extreme cold and heat
Weeds – thistles, thorns, etc..
Poor soils, lack of nutrients
Etc..

Today, we have no concept of what a perfect sin-free world upheld by God’s power is like, as only Adam and Eve, before they sinned, experienced. Ever since that critical moment in time, the earth and it’s systems have been running down and decaying.  “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pain of childbirth together until now.”  Romans 8:18-22, NASB

All creation is decaying and suffering the effects of original sin. The root cause of every hurricane, earthquake, volcano, garden weed, and so forth, is caused by SIN.  Our world is NOT what God intended to create, and is being destroyed by the lasting and corrosive effects of sin. In actual fact, this earth, our world, is terminally ill and cannot be saved. During the soon-coming future judgment of mankind, our “beautiful world” will be utterly, completely, and absolutely destroyed by fire, and it is our fault. As in the days of Noah we have done wickedly in the eyes of God, and judgment upon us will not be restrained forever.

“They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They re being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed. But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God, and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.”  2 Peter 3,5-13, NLT  – (Emphasis added)

No amount of recycling efforts can truly clean up our world, it is beyond saving and ultimately temporal and worthless. While the Earth cannot be saved from judgment, YOU can be! You have one and only ONE choice, to repent of your sins and confess the name of Jesus Christ, asking for His forgiveness. Unless you willingly and freely do this with your whole heart, you will end up being tormented in hell for eternity.

The sin of one man allowed death through the door

“So you see, just as death came into the world through a man…”  1 Corinthians 15:21, NLT

“When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.”  Romans 5:12, NLT

“For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one;…”  Romans 5:17, KJV

Showing death the door

~ Sin came through Adam ~ Romans 5:18, NLT
“Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new lives for everyone.”

~ The reign of sin is over! ~ Romans 8:3, NLT
“God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.”

~ Sting of death is no more! ~ 1 Corinthians 15:53-57, NLT
“For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory. O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

~ Jesus takes away sin ~ John 1:29, KJV
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

~ Jesus bore our sins ~ 1 Peter 2:21-24, KJV
“For  even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.”

There you have it, the sad story of how sin gained entrance into our world, and what is in store for us. My hands are clean and my conscience is clear, I have told you the truth. What you do with this knowledge is up to you, please make the right choice; come to the feet of JESUS CHRIST today!! May God bless you.

Hold fast to Him

The currents of life are flowing so quickly you hardly have time to stop and catch your breath. Change is in the air, and most of it is not good. The very fabric of society is under relentless attack by demonic spiritual forces, which are trying the souls of men. What was once considered evil is now embraced, even worshipped. Absolute morality is considered a relic of the past, and has no anchor. If I am right, and you are right, and your neighbour is right, somebody then must be wrong, right…? After all, if 1+2=3, and 1+2=4, and 1+2=5, how can you be sure of anything?

Thankfully, our God is always right, a light of hope in the darkness, a comforting companion on a long journey. God has never changed, it is not in His nature, otherwise, all of creation would collapse. God has faithfully recorded His word for us in the Bible and is the only and true source of truth, morality, and strength. Don’t be overly alarmed by the happenings of this world, for all things old are passing away, and yea, are nearly gone. Hold fast to our Lord Jesus Christ, our true anchor, sustainer, and author of our salvation, foe He changes not.

God bless,

How to be saved and know it!

The world has itching ears

2 Timothy 4:1-4
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing, and his kingdom: Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

As Christians’, we are commanded to

  1. Preach the gospel without ceasing.
  2. Reprove false doctrine and teaching.
  3. Exhort, edify and build-up the brethren.

We are to be busy going about the Lords’ business – strengthening the church and preaching the gospel to the world. I for one, could be doing a lot more in these areas. How about you? The time has always been, and is now being fulfilled to the maximum, whereby the world (and often the church), refuse to listen to the sound doctrine of Jesus. Scientists tell us the physical universe was formed by random chance, and life arose on the planet because of evolution – both lies. Atheists demand obedience to their mantra, “God does not exist, religion is a fairytale”. Another lie,but one you get away from God, evil naturally seeps in to pollute the void. All atheists are liars according to God, and most scientists know nothing. As we approach the end of days, all manner of evil and uncleanness will increase in abundance. Rather than listen to the one true God, our world seeks after the “expert opinion”, not caring for what God has to say. How about you, will you listen to His word today? Are you going to continue believing the lies of the world, or embrace the glorious light and truth of Jesus Christ?

God bless,

A happy future for Zion

Isaiah Chapter 35

Verses 1-3  [Desert to be made fruitful and joyous]
“The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God. Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.

Verses 4-7  [The blind to see and the deaf hear]
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

Verses 8-10  [Zion shall be a place of gladness and everlasting joy]
And an highway shall be there and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there but the redeemed shall walk there: And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”

May we be steadfast and faithful unto the great day of the His coming!

Blessings,

Knowledge of the LORD will fill the earth

Isaiah 11:1-12

Verses 1-3  [Prophecy of Jesus Christ]
“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Verses 4-6  [Judgment and rule of Jesus]
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reigns. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. [Wolf and the lamb shall lie together – death will finally be defeated]

Verses 7-10  [Suckling child shall play with the asp]
And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like an ox. And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Verses 11-12  [The remnant of people recovered]
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the disperses of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”

My brothers and sisters, hold fast to the faith for in the end we will be victorious with Christ!

Blessings,
