As much as for my benefit as yours, these are general bible studies and lessons.

The time for delay is over

I have a question for you. Are you a Christian? If the answer is yes, then are you living a full life for Jesus Christ as best you are able? When we come to Jesus in repentance and faith, Jesus says He wants all of us, not just part, but our entire being. The time for sitting on the sidelines is long past, what are you doing to share the Gospel in your community?

Jesus Christ Himself commands us to GO!!

Make disciples of all nations
“Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18-20, NLT

Go and preach
“As they were walking along, someone said to Jesus, I will follow you wherever you go. But Jesus replied, Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head. He said to another person, Come, follow me. The man agreed, but he said, Lord, first let me return home and bury my father. But Jesus told him, Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.”  Luke 9:57-20, NLT

Preach the good news
“So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.”  Acts 16:10, NLT

Preach Jesus is the Messiah
“And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: Jesus is the Messiah.”  Acts 5:42, NLT

The Holy Spirit speaks!
“For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. I came to you in weakness – timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.”  Acts 2:2-5, NLT

God does not expect you to “do it all” yourself, there are millions of Christians alive today who are called to spread the Gospel. However it is true how God gives each person certain spiritual gift(s) upon receiving the Holy Spirit, we are to use for His glory, to share the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ with others. See 1 Corinthians 12.

A sober warning
“Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.”  Galatians 1:8-9, NLT

Everyone going out to preach the Gospel Message, needs to know clearly in their heart and mind precisely what the Gospel is, and equally important, what is it not. Carefully read the warnings from Paul again, letting it sink down into your soul. If you intentionally preach a distorted Gospel, God says you will be cursed – take Paul’s admonition seriously!

The Gospel Message is NOT,

  • a promise of wealth and prosperity.
  • a guarantee of an easy, worry-free life.
  • dependent upon the opinions of sinful man.
  • negotiable, debatable, or changeable.
  • to make us feel good about ourselves.
  • for our glory.
  • to be altered to fit your personal opinion.
  • a works-based message of salvation.
  • an “all religions are equal” message.

  • change the Gospel message in any way!!!
  • think you are big and important.
  • shift the focus and glory away from Jesus.
  • water down, dilute, alter, massage, twist, or do anything to change the Message – There is only ONE GOSPEL!
  • back down or shy away from preaching the truth, pray diligently for strength and guidance.
  • say, infer, imply, or lead people to anything other than the cross, and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel Message IS,

  • permanent, eternal, and everlasting.
  • all about Jesus Christ.
  • good news for everyone who hears, believes, and obeys.
  • salvation through faith alone.
  • about the virgin birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • finding forgiveness, redemption, and a new life through Jesus.
  • perfect, absolute, unchanging, non-negotiable, everlasting, eternal, holy, wonderful, and free!
  • the message of salvation through Christ alone.
  • our free “ticket” to heaven.
  • the only way to avoid eternal damnation in hell.

Now go! Be the hands of feet of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Using the abilities, gifts, and talents, God has given you, go unto all the world and share the Good News! Pray for guidance. Pray for instruction. Pray for strength. Pray for protection. Pray for the words to speak. Pray for humility. Above all else, pray. May God bless you!

Abortion vs Cecil the Lion

With all of the recent media coverage and public outrage over the killing of Cecil the lion I have a very simple question ask. Where are the public protests and media outcry over the millions of babies murdered at the hands of abortionists every year??? Nothing, zilch, zero. A society who devalues human life is totally and absolutely morally bankrupt. How much longer will God endure these wicked, daily abominations to His Holy Name? Woe to those who were perpetrated these heinous crimes against Almighty God, they will not escape the judgment of our LORD, JESUS CHRIST.

I did a quick internet search earlier today using the phrases, “killing Cecil the lion is wrong” (29,800,00 results) and “abortion is evil” (18,500,000 results). Unsurprisingly, there was a lot more traffic looking for information on the lion, Cecil. I guess innocent human lives are not as concerning..

Although the bible does not use the word, “abortion”, directly, it is abundantly clear that God places a very high value on human life. Every human being is formed inside the womb in His image, so there is absolutely no difference between a newly-formed fetus, and a baby just delivered. God is involved directly and personally in the conception, development, and growth of every human being.

Behold, I formed thee
“Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet to the nations.”  Jeremiah 1:4-5, KJV

Covered in the womb
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”  Psalm 139:13, KJV

Knowest not the works of God
“As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.”  Ecclesiastes 11:5, KJV

Formed thee in the womb
“Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee…”  Isaiah 44:2, KJV, and also, “And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him…”  Isaiah 49:5, KJV

Folks, ABORTION = MURDER – those are the true facts, and says volumes about the moral state of our country and society. Do not be deluded into believing an unborn baby is not fully human, this is a lie of the devil. If God notices when a single sparrow dies, how much more does He notice when a helpless, innocent baby is killed? The eternal consequences to those who participate in, and support this “industry”, is not going to be very pretty.

Original Sin

Contained within the pages of Genesis, is the true account of how our world became cursed by sin. It is here we are told Adam and Eve first sinned against Almighty God, and how the fate of all humanity was decided on that day, 6000 years ago. Although the story has a tragic beginning, the ending is simply amazing and wonderful!! God in His unending mercy, sent His Son, Jesus Christ to be sacrificed on the cross for our sin, so we may once again have true and everlasting fellowship with Father and Son.

In The Garden Of Eden

“Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Indeed, has God said, You shall not eat from any tree of the garden? The woman said to the serpent, From the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die. The serpent said to the woman, You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, Where are you? He said, I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.

And he said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? The man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate. Then the LORD God said to the woman, What is this you have done? And the woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate. The LORD God said to the serpent.

Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more then every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life;
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.

To the woman He said,
I will greatly multiply
Your pain in childbirth,
In pain you will bring forth children;
Yet your desire will be for your husband,
And he will rule over you.

Then to Adam He said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat from it;
Cursed is the ground because of you;
In toil you will eat of it
All the days of your life.
Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you;
And you will eat the plants of the field;
By the sweat of your face
You will eat bread,
Till you return to the ground,
Because from it you were taken;
For you are dust,
And to dust shall you return.

Now the man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all the living. The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. Then the LORD God said, Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever – therefore the LORD God sent him out from the Garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.”  Genesis 3:1-24, NASB
God’s original plan was for Adam, Eve, and their descendants to live forever together with Him in the Garden of Eden, in a perfect, pristine, sin-free world for eternity. God exists outside of time and space, and knew in advance they would disobey Him when He said, “Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. The LORD God commanded the man, saying, From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”  Genesis 2:15-17,  NASB.

Did you get that? God said they would die if they ate from the forbidden tree, clearly implying they would live for ever if they obeyed! Well, the “serpent”, who represents Satan the Devil, a fallen angel who rebelled against God, knew God’s plan and decided to get Adam and Eve to disobey, thereby denying them the blessings of fellowship and eternal life God had promised.

BIG IMPORTANT WARNING – The devil, while very smart and crafty, really has a limited bag of tricks to ensare mankind, and uses the same old lies to tempt each of us – BEWARE! By planting doubt in their minds that God had not really meant what He said (GOD SAYS EXACTLY WHAT HE MEANS!), both Adam and Eve (please don’t get me started on who sinned first, it is irrelevant), disobeyed God’s commandment not to eat fruit from the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil. It is at this precise moment in history when sin first entered into the world, caused by the disobedience of Adam and Eve against God. The consequences of their mistake continues to manifest itself today, such as,

Mental disorders
Broken families
Drug and alcohol addictions
And on it goes…

You may not realize there are environmental effects as well,

Extreme cold and heat
Weeds – thistles, thorns, etc..
Poor soils, lack of nutrients

Today, we have no concept of what a perfect sin-free world upheld by God’s power is like, as only Adam and Eve, before they sinned, experienced. Ever since that critical moment in time, the earth and it’s systems have been running down and decaying.  “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pain of childbirth together until now.”  Romans 8:18-22, NASB

All creation is decaying and suffering the effects of original sin. The root cause of every hurricane, earthquake, volcano, garden weed, and so forth, is caused by SIN.  Our world is NOT what God intended to create, and is being destroyed by the lasting and corrosive effects of sin. In actual fact, this earth, our world, is terminally ill and cannot be saved. During the soon-coming future judgment of mankind, our “beautiful world” will be utterly, completely, and absolutely destroyed by fire, and it is our fault. As in the days of Noah we have done wickedly in the eyes of God, and judgment upon us will not be restrained forever.

“They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They re being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed. But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God, and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.”  2 Peter 3,5-13, NLT  – (Emphasis added)

No amount of recycling efforts can truly clean up our world, it is beyond saving and ultimately temporal and worthless. While the Earth cannot be saved from judgment, YOU can be! You have one and only ONE choice, to repent of your sins and confess the name of Jesus Christ, asking for His forgiveness. Unless you willingly and freely do this with your whole heart, you will end up being tormented in hell for eternity.

The sin of one man allowed death through the door

“So you see, just as death came into the world through a man…”  1 Corinthians 15:21, NLT

“When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.”  Romans 5:12, NLT

“For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one;…”  Romans 5:17, KJV

Showing death the door

~ Sin came through Adam ~ Romans 5:18, NLT
“Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new lives for everyone.”

~ The reign of sin is over! ~ Romans 8:3, NLT
“God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.”

~ Sting of death is no more! ~ 1 Corinthians 15:53-57, NLT
“For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory. O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

~ Jesus takes away sin ~ John 1:29, KJV
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

~ Jesus bore our sins ~ 1 Peter 2:21-24, KJV
“For  even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.”

There you have it, the sad story of how sin gained entrance into our world, and what is in store for us. My hands are clean and my conscience is clear, I have told you the truth. What you do with this knowledge is up to you, please make the right choice; come to the feet of JESUS CHRIST today!! May God bless you.

Hold fast to Him

The currents of life are flowing so quickly you hardly have time to stop and catch your breath. Change is in the air, and most of it is not good. The very fabric of society is under relentless attack by demonic spiritual forces, which are trying the souls of men. What was once considered evil is now embraced, even worshipped. Absolute morality is considered a relic of the past, and has no anchor. If I am right, and you are right, and your neighbour is right, somebody then must be wrong, right…? After all, if 1+2=3, and 1+2=4, and 1+2=5, how can you be sure of anything?

Thankfully, our God is always right, a light of hope in the darkness, a comforting companion on a long journey. God has never changed, it is not in His nature, otherwise, all of creation would collapse. God has faithfully recorded His word for us in the Bible and is the only and true source of truth, morality, and strength. Don’t be overly alarmed by the happenings of this world, for all things old are passing away, and yea, are nearly gone. Hold fast to our Lord Jesus Christ, our true anchor, sustainer, and author of our salvation, foe He changes not.

God bless,

How to be saved and know it!

The world has itching ears

2 Timothy 4:1-4
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing, and his kingdom: Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

As Christians’, we are commanded to

  1. Preach the gospel without ceasing.
  2. Reprove false doctrine and teaching.
  3. Exhort, edify and build-up the brethren.

We are to be busy going about the Lords’ business – strengthening the church and preaching the gospel to the world. I for one, could be doing a lot more in these areas. How about you? The time has always been, and is now being fulfilled to the maximum, whereby the world (and often the church), refuse to listen to the sound doctrine of Jesus. Scientists tell us the physical universe was formed by random chance, and life arose on the planet because of evolution – both lies. Atheists demand obedience to their mantra, “God does not exist, religion is a fairytale”. Another lie,but one you get away from God, evil naturally seeps in to pollute the void. All atheists are liars according to God, and most scientists know nothing. As we approach the end of days, all manner of evil and uncleanness will increase in abundance. Rather than listen to the one true God, our world seeks after the “expert opinion”, not caring for what God has to say. How about you, will you listen to His word today? Are you going to continue believing the lies of the world, or embrace the glorious light and truth of Jesus Christ?

God bless,

A happy future for Zion

Isaiah Chapter 35

Verses 1-3  [Desert to be made fruitful and joyous]
“The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God. Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.

Verses 4-7  [The blind to see and the deaf hear]
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

Verses 8-10  [Zion shall be a place of gladness and everlasting joy]
And an highway shall be there and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there but the redeemed shall walk there: And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”

May we be steadfast and faithful unto the great day of the His coming!

Knowledge of the LORD will fill the earth

Isaiah 11:1-12

Verses 1-3  [Prophecy of Jesus Christ]
“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Verses 4-6  [Judgment and rule of Jesus]
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reigns. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. [Wolf and the lamb shall lie together – death will finally be defeated]

Verses 7-10  [Suckling child shall play with the asp]
And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like an ox. And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Verses 11-12  [The remnant of people recovered]
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the disperses of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”

My brothers and sisters, hold fast to the faith for in the end we will be victorious with Christ!

All nations come near

Isaiah 34: 1-10

Verses 1-5
“Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his furry upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. And all the host of heavens shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

Verses 6-10
The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood  lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea. And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fate with fatness. For it is the day of the LORD’s vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. And the streams thereof shall be turned unto pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.”

The bible plain states in many places, the judgment of God lies upon the nations of the world and all humanity. With the end of days firmly upon us, we are drawing every closer to the coming return of Jesus Christ and His righteous judgment. Are you ready to give an account for all your deeds, thoughts and actions, whether for good or evil? Matthew 12:35 “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Mercifully, the Father has made provision for us to be saved through His Son, Jesus Christ – there is hope!

Will the rich and powerful of the world listen?

Long ago, God warned the people not to ask for king but they failed to listen to Him. Just as Samuel prophesied, King Saul brought death, destruction and misery upon the people, all because they refused to hearken unto our Lord. Down throughout the ages, by election, military force or deceit, kings and rulers have oppressed their citizens, being wholly ignorant and spiteful of the true God. No man, woman or child is guiltless, for each of us has played a part in our collective rebellion. The focus of this article however, is how God views the world’s rich, elite and powerful, and how their end will come. Heed His words with fear and trembling.

Isaiah 24: 1-23

Verses 1-2  [All mankind has sinned, therefore destruction is coming]
“Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and meketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

Verses 3-4  [This present world will be destroyed]
The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word. The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world langisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

Verses 5-6  [Earth defiled from the sins of mankind]
The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Verses 7-10
The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh. The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth. They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

Verses 11-14
There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done. They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

Verses 15-16  [The merchants have engaged in deceit and lies]
Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea. From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

Verses 17-18  [Earthquakes and torrents of rain]
Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the pit shall be taken in a snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

Verses 19-20  [The earth is dissolved]
The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not raise again.

Verses 21-23  [Kings of the earth punished]
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.”

Our world is in turmoil and chaos because collectively we have rejected the LORD our God, forsaking His commandments and laws. Events placed in motion long ago will soon be fulfilled, as the end of days draws nigh. Turn ye, each of us unto Jesus Christ in repentance of sin, that we may be saved. But woe unto the kings and rulers who have rejected thee and forsaken thy laws.

A warning from God

Psalm 78:1-44

As I have written many times, our society is rapidly moving away from God’s laws and commandments, steadily drifting ever deeper into darkness and rebellion. From Genesis to Revelation, the bible is filled with God’s expectation for His children to be obedient to His word. Sadly, for the most part this is not the case in today’s “modern” world.

Verses 1-4  [Obey the laws of God, which are intended for everyone]
“I give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

Verses 5-8  [Fathers, teach your children My commandments]
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

Verses 9-12  [The people refused His law and were disobedient]
The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law; And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shown them. marvellous things did he in the sight of our fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

Verses 13-16  [God has mercy, and careth for His people]
He divided the sea, and caused to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap. In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire. He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of great depths. He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

Verses 17-20  [But the people sinned more against the LORD]
And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness. And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

Verses 21-24  [Despite God’s care and mercy, the people continued to rebel]
Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation. Though he had commanded the clouds from above and opened the doors of heaven, And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

Verses 25-28  [God provided food and nourishment for the people]
Man did angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full. He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind. He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea: And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.

And also, Exodus 16: 1-28  ~ The story of manna, quail and the sabbath ~

{ Verses 1-4  “And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt. And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness: And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt. when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger. Then said, the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.”  [Murmuring against Moses an Aaron] The LORD determined to test the people to see whether or not they would obey Him, but of course they did not.

Verses 5-9  “And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily. And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt: And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye murmur against us? And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.  And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.”  [Murmuring against the LORD.]

Verses 10-13  “And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host”  [Quails came up and covered the camp.]

Verses 14-17  “And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents. And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.”

Verses 18-21  “And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them. And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.”  [The manna bread worms and stank because the people wanted to do things their own way.]  The key theme of this chapter is to illustrate how the people of Israel (i.e. all believers) who profess to follow the LORD, yet continue to reject His promises and commandments by giving their hearts over to their own lusts and desires.

Verses 22-26  “And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy sabbath [the 7th day] unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. And Moses said, Eat that today; for today is a sabbath unto the LORD: today ye shall not find it in the field.”

Verses 27-28  “And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people of the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?”  Friend, the LORD is asking this question of you as well. Have you rejected His commandments by condoning all manner of sin for the sake of convenience or political correctness? If this is the case, then you need to prayerfully evaluate your standing before our King, because your actions are very much contrary to what He has commanded.  }

Verses 29-32  [Yet, the people continued to sin against the LORD]
So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire; They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths, The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel. For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.

Verses 33-36  [The people lied to the LORD]
Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble. When he slew them, then they returned and inquired early after God. And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.

Verses 37-40  [Their heart was not right, yet God did not destroy them]
For their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant. But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

Verses 41-44  [The people turned away from God]
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy. How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan: And turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that thy could not drink.”

Blessed be His word,
