A covenant by faith

Genesis 15:xx
After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abraham in a vision saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield and exceeding great reward. Verse 1

And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Verses 5-6

The LORD made a truly incredible promise to Abram (Abraham), which was not to be fulfilled during his lifetime. The descendants of Abram would go on to father new nations and peoples over the earth, commencing with his sons Ishmael and Issac. Notice how the LORD counted Abram’s belief in him (i.e. actions) as righteousness. This is not the same kind of “belief” that most christians claim to have today. No, the type of belief Abram had was much, much more. I do not have the space here today to delve into all his stories, but would encourage you to read these for yourself in the book of Genesis . Abram’s belief, the true belief in God, always involved some action on his part. Unlike far too many christians today, he did not say in his heart, “Yes, LORD, I know you are God , and in you I trust” – although this is very, very important. True belief in God must be much more. Notice the words of the Apostle John “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:2-3. Also in James 1:22-23 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding is natural face in a glass.” And finally the words of Jesus, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15. Scripture is filled with examples of and reference to the true belief in God. What kind of “belief” do you have?

Obey my commandments
Are we all now being called?

Vanity of human constructions

HTML clipboard“And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass as they journeyed from the East, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. And they said one to another; Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone and slime they had for mortar. And they said; Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven, and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said; Behold, the people is one, and they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and their confound their language, that they may not understand one anothers speech.”

Days of Noah are coming

“For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

A prayer to the LORD

Thank you LORD for the monies received this week from my labours. Blessings to all of your children wherever they are, because the call of your voice was heard and a response given. I love you LORD with all my heart and soul; your great love and mercy is all I need day by day. Your acceptance is what I seek through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. To be honest LORD, the sins and evil of this world are a fright unto me. Do not leave me O   LORD, for I cannot face this evil without you. O what an evil and wicked people we are; all have forsaken you and wandered astray. All have turned to their own sin, there is none that doeth right in your eyes. We are perishing off this Earth, but your children cling to the promise of hope, made possible through Jesus Christ. I cling to this promise my LORD, and shalt not let it go. Blessings be heaped upon you in infinite abundance; let your people praise your name day and night forever.

The wicked know not that they have made a covenant with death, and that destruction and misery lies before them. Our sins are multiplied, our strength is fading, but hope endures. We have hope in the name of Jesus, a name to be praised above all others, because He loved us so. How much shall be the cost O  LORD? How much suffering shall we endure? Very much, I fear, for our sins are great, our faith weak, and your just wrath unsatisfied. O  LORD, what a dark day it will be when the heavens fall, and the mountains are moved. Am I to live to see this day? Will you ask for my life? I will stand for thee, my LORD and KING; but my flesh fears greatly. Lend me your strength, sufficient that I may stand form and not faint due to fear. I care not for this world; I hate my sin and the evil all about. One day O  LORD, ye will once again renew the face of the earth, and all shall be made right. I pray you a good night my LORD, and thank you for this day from my heart.

The wicked shall perish

A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of the lambs: they shall consume, into smoke shall they consume away.”

Verse Reference: Psalm 37:16-21

Memory Lesson: All the wicked shall perish from off the earth.

Blessings to all nations who obey thee

Heavenly Father, blessings be unto you for the giving of this new day. Thank you LORD, that you have provided food for our table. Thank you LORD that you have so richly blessed our family. Blessings to all those who place their hope and trust in thee. Thank you LORD for blessing us with stable employment, and we pray for those families undergoing hardships and difficulties. Blessings be unto all nations who love thy word, and rule their people according to thy law of truth.”

Shout unto God

“The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.”

Verse Reference: Psalm 93

Memory Lesson: The LORD is established from everlasting.

Love not the world

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John 2:15-17

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. John 17:9

I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. John 17:15-16
